FAQ's

Frequently asked Questions

I’ve just booked my tickets. Where does the money go?
At the Nanga Music Festival you book and pay up front for all components. Once you’ve bought your tickets, there is virtually nothing else you need to pay for, except for a coffee, chai or mulled wine, if you want one. We don’t even take a cut on CD sales. The ticket price is comparable with other festivals in WA and nationally. The accommodation costs are comparable with, and of higher quality, than camping at other festivals. The catered meals are hearty and reasonably priced and you can self-cater if you wish. Because it’s BYO alcohol, you won’t have to pay commercial rates for your drinks. Overall, we’re sure we’re offering you exceptional value for money.

How does the blind date concert work?
The blind date concert puts together small groups of about 3 patrons and artists and gives them 24 hours to come up with one song or performance piece. It provides a great opportunity for people wanting to get started at performing on stage. Groups are encouraged to do something creative and humorous. Selection of blind date groups is almost random. The "almost" is because we do try to allocate an established artist/musician to each group.

What is a Short n Sweet act?
Nanga Music Festival aims to support new and emerging artists. Each year, we allocate several Short and Sweet performance slots to feature these performers. Short and Sweet artists receive a free Festival Ticket, but no payment.

Is the venue licensed?
The Nanga Bush Camp could be likened to a caravan park. It isn’t licensed and there is no bar facility, but you are welcome to bring your own drinks. We expect you to drink responsibly.

Is Nanga Bush Camp suitable for the disabled?
The Nanga Bush Camp may not be suitable for the disabled, as it is a rustic bush location with unsealed tracks and paths and multi level buildings. We recommend that you contact Nanga Bush Camp (1800 801 807) before booking for more information to determine for yourself the suitability for particular kinds of disability/impaired mobility and make your decision to attend/purchase a ticket accordingly. Nanga Music Festival cannot be responsible for determining suitability for your needs. We would also like to point out that we have a ‘no refund’ policy.

Can I bring a dog?
Sorry. No. Due to the delicate nature of the native flora and fauna at Nanga Bush Camp, and due to health regulations, pets are not permitted on the campsite.

What catering is available?
Catered meals must be pre-booked online and are available during the Festival at moderate cost. This includes casserole or roast-style dinners on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, cooked breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, and soup and salads/rolls at both lunches. It’s hearty camp-style food. There is also a vegetarian option but you need to request this when booking. Self-catering is also available for some or all meals if you are sleeping in Timbarra or Currawong. This is because the third sleeping venue, Woodside, is used by the caterers throughout the weekend.

Where are meals available from?
Pre-ordered meals will be available from the canteen at our early-to-bed accommodation building, Woodshed.

Where should I stay if I want to self cater?

Self-catering kitchens are available in the Currawong and Timbarra buildings, as long as this does not interfere with concerts and workshops. Self-catering and fridge space is not available in the Woodshed building because the caterers are using the kitchen there.

How do I order meals?
You must pre-order your meal vouchers online at nangamusic.org.au.

How does camping work?
There are 12 camping sites behind the Woodshed building. These are available only for the whole weekend, on a first-come first-served basis. The site is too hilly and the roads are too narrow for caravans, but campervans are OK. All camping sites are unpowered. Campers have access to the ablution facilities in the Woodshed building, but not the kitchen of fridges. Of course, campers can use our catering service.
