Kristina Olsen (USA)
What can we say about Kristina that hasn’t been said already? A muse, an angel, a devil, the Californian songstress combines thought-provoking lyrics and a variety of fine guitar styles to deliver a consistently spellbinding performance of passion, humour and gusto.
Rachel Taylor (Victoria)
What do you get when you mix a rich three-octave vocal range, a big smile, Mediterranean languages, a guitar, a ukelele, a wicked sense of humour and the urgen to write a song? The Bride of Frankenstein? No – Rachel Taylor!
Bob Eden (Queensland)
From the beauty of the Irish ballad tradition to moving and powerful songs of working life, Bob Eden moves his audience through the joy to be found in the music of ordinary people as they discover the extraordinary within themselves. A splash of Walters, a dollop of Warner, a sprinkling of Spooner and a dash of Cash, all on a Blarney base.
Doris (WA)
With just two voices and a guitar, Jane Cornes and Margie Hanly keep up the tradition of well-crafted original songs with words that matter. Part world, part folk, part acoustic, Doris’ music involves intricate, soaring harmonies, thought-provoking lyrics and a strong dose of humanity. Come along and discover why Doris is Western Australia’s best-loved female duo.
Craig Sinclair and Lara Norman (WA)
Craig’s crisp fingerstyle slide guitar and Lara’s haunting violin combine with beautiful vocals on a range of original and traditional songs which range from full-bodied to whimsical. Together, the pair crafts a unique style that draws on folk, gospel, blue and gluegrass. Come hear one of WA’s finest musical duos doing their thing.
Saz Lockyer (WA)
Leading the charge for Nanga’s youth contingent is Saz Lockyer, an Albany musician whose one man act features didgeridoo, slide guitar and some primal rhythms. Saz combines a home-made stomp box, foot tambourine, congas and shakers to create an earthy and energising sound. Fit for all ages, Saz’s sound is enjoyed by young and old.
Paul Gioia Trio (WA)
One of WA’s foremost blues and gospel performers, Paul Gioia presents a bunch of carefully-chosen tunes from Wailing Jennys and originals to Liz Frencham and celtic instrumentals. Get ready for high energy blues and gospel as well as beautiful an moving ballards featuring Kris Arnott’s amazing voice and Bob Thomson’s sumptuous double bass.
Brenda Chapman and Friends (WA)
Brenda is a local singer-songwriter who writes to express the heartfelt stories from her own colourful life. She delivers her powerful storytellling with big, soulful vocals and her unique, earthy guitar style. Brenda will be performing songs from her new debut solo album, “Postcards from Exile”, accompanied by some special guests.
Djangle (WA)
Djangle is a vibrant mixture of traditional contemporary and original acoustic blues featuring John McNair on bass, Andy McManus on guitar and slide and Greg Cunningham providing intricate finger picking on banjo, guitar and mandolin. Tight vocals, driving rhythms and an original and authentic roots sound.
Tangled Reel (WA)
Outstanding Irish guitarist Donough O’Donovan is joined by Ros Barnes and some of Perth and Fremantle’s top Irish sessioneers, playing mainly traditional Irish Music with the odd Scottish tune thrown in. The group also add in a representative bunch of original tunes written by members of the band. Depending on their mood, instruments could include guitar, fiddle, banjo, whistle, fiddle, bouzouki and mandolin.
Simon Nield (WA)
Simon is a beautiful acoustic guitar player with a distinctive Australian voice and a direct, heartfelt approach to performance. He has won numerous national songwriting awards, and has achieved national and international airplay for both his songs and his instrumental guitar music.
Jonathan Brain (WA)
Based in Perth Western Australia, singer / songwriter / multi-instrumentalist Jonathan Brain has been performing across a wide range of music stages over the last ten years. 2006 sees Jonathan launch a solo career, with the recording and release of his debut solo EP Billy the Kid, a five-track alt.country / new-folk feast, where rich instrumental textures provide a backdrop for Jonathans unique voice and striking songwriting.
As a free-lance vocalist, Jonathan has performed with a diversity of groups: singing traditional sacred music with the Choir of St Georges Cathedral, avant-garde improvisation with Pantheon, contemporary classical work with Schvendes Ensemble, baroque music with Ensemble Archangelo and recently accompanying the aerial-acrobatics of the Skadada company. With these groups he has toured both Europe and Australia, broadcast live for ABC Classic fm, recorded and given numerous concerts.
The Rambling Bilbies (WA)
With an upbeat, friendly stage presence, the Rambling Bilbies play a range of unplugged music of various styles. Featuring Rob Oats on guitar, Jill Oats on a variety of wind instruments and Skip Reed on bass and fiddle, the band covers everything from traditional classics to dance hall numbers and some originals.
Danielle Pender (WA)
Danielle’s work as a teacher of afro-contemporary dance is highly regarded throughout the State. She brings to her workshops a high level of energy and enthusiasm, working with adults and children. Come along to one of Danielle’s workshops and enjoy the rhythms as you learn some simple dance steps.
